Description/Course Overview:
The new web-based PA Benefits Unemployment Compensation System was launched on June 8th, 2021. This program will provide an overview of this system and a review of the “Employer Services Guide”. This “Employer Services Guide” covers the functionality specific to employers, or their agents, to meet the needs of the PA Unemployment Compensation system. Unemployment-specific topics include self-service activities, such as responding to separation notices, viewing benefit charge statements, protesting charges, filing appeals, and managing mass layoffs.
Learning/Course Objectives:
Attendees will learn about the functionality of this new system and how to navigate it. Areas to be covered include:
- Communications and Calendar sent by the UC Office
- Managing Documents in your Dashboard as an Employer
- Unemployment – Claimant Separations
- Unemployment – Determinations and Appeals
- Unemployment – Employer Charges
Presenter Name and Bio:
Melissa Stevenson, Workforce Development Representative for South-Central PA
Melissa Stevenson is a Workforce Development Representative for South-Central PA. In this role, she assists employers and employees with their Unemployment Compensation needs by conducting presentations and seminars at local CareerLink offices. Melissa has been employed with the Commonwealth since 2001. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to Unemployment Compensation laws and regulations. Her previously held positions were Bilingual Intake Interviewer, Monetary Interviewer, Examiner and UC Claims Supervisor. Melissa is a big believer in working together to get the job done and loves helping people.
Melissa met her husband Mickey, Income Maintenance Caseworker in 2001 at the Lancaster UC Service Center. She has one son, two stepdaughters, four step-grandchildren and a rescued dog named Charlie brown.
Personal interests include listening to music and spending quality time with her family.
This session has been submitted for recertification credits with SHRM and HRCI. Chapter members in good standing with their dues and non-members that have paid the nominal fee will receive these credits if in attendance for a minimum of 50 minutes of the program.
