SHRM Certification Scholarship Application

The Susquehanna Human Resource Management Association (SHRMA), is pleased to provide a scholarship to one deserving member of our chapter annually.

The purpose of this program is to grow and advance the Human Resource profession, by providing financial assistance to a candidate who meets the eligibility requirements and seeks to obtain credentials as a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). 

The scholarship recipient will be reimbursed for qualified expenses related to a preparation course, the purchase of preparation materials, and/or to pay the exam fee, up to the amount of $500 per scholarship. All applicants will be notified of their standing by phone or by email.

Eligibility Requirements:

    • Candidates must have both National SHRM and SHRMA memberships in good standing.
    • Candidates must be eligible to sit for the certification exam and/or not have let the certification lapse. Check here for the full list of eligibility criteria.
    • The scholarship recipient agrees to register and sit for the examination within the Spring or Winter Exam Window following scholarship notification. Click here to apply to take the exam and check application deadlines.
    • Previous applicants who have not been awarded a scholarship are eligible to reapply. Applicants who have received this award in the past are ineligible for future awards.
    • Passing the exam is not required to qualify for reimbursement.

Selection Process:
Scholarship applications must be submitted by
September 30 and will be reviewed by the SHRMA Board of Directors and voted on at the October board meeting.

Should SHRMA not receive any qualified applicants by the deadline, we reserve the right to extend the application window and seek additional applications for consideration, and/or roll the scholarship award into the next calendar year. 

The SHRMA Board of Directors reserves the right to alter, amend, or discontinue the Scholarship program in whole or part at any time. Any change or discontinuance will not adversely affect awarded recipients.

Reimbursement Process:
At the completion of the exam, the recipient shall submit proof of exam completion along with receipts for all eligible expenses, and a valid mailing address for check reimbursement to
shrma_chapter@yahoo.com with the Subject Line: “[Last Name] - Scholarship Reimbursement.” All receipts must be submitted to SHRMA within one year of notification of receipt of the award. Failure to submit all required documentation within one year will result in forfeiture of the award.
