DESCRIPTION/COURSE OVERVIEW

There’s no question that 2023 was a year of developments in labor and employment law – a trend that is expected to continue as we look ahead at 2024. Join us to discuss some of the most notable developments in 2023, the key issues facing employers in early 2024, and the anticipated activity as 2024 presses forward. Topics will include significant activity from the National Labor Relations Board, including continued increased union organizing activity, challenges to severance and non-compete agreements, and handbook policies; new federal and state employment laws and regulations, including those relating to overtime, independent contractor classification, legally protected traits and characteristics, pregnancy and religious accommodation ... and more!

    SPEAKER BIO:

    Kelley E. Kaufman, Esq., McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC, Harrisburg, PA

    Kelley practices in McNees’ Labor & Employment, Education Law, and Automobile Dealer Practice Groups. Kelley regularly defends employers in employment-related litigation before federal and state Courts and agencies. She counsels employers of all industries and sizes on a variety of labor and employment law issues, including those relating to discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, family/medical leave and accommodations, litigation avoidance, restrictive covenants and reductions in force, and more. In addition, Kelley conducts internal investigations for employers, as well as training programs on a broad range of labor and employment law topics.

    Austin Wolfe, Esq., McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC, Harrisburg, PA

    Austin practices in the McNees Labor & Employment Practice Group where he counsels businesses of all sizes, non-profits, and government entities through a broad spectrum of issues arising in the workplace. He regularly defends state and federal litigation and regulatory enforcement actions involving wage and hour claims, discrimination, prevailing wage, and OSHA matters. Austin also represents public and private employers on issues involving labor relations, collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations, and provides counsel to employers facing union organizing campaigns.
