Financial Wellness in the Workplace: A Strategic Approach for Employees and Organizations
DESCRIPTION/COURSE OVERVIEW
This session equips HR professionals with the knowledge and tools to design and implement effective financial wellness programs that support both employees and organizational goals. Participants will explore the strategic importance of financial wellness, learn how to assess employee needs, and review best practices for creating sustainable programs that enhance engagement, productivity, and overall well-being.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Explain the business case for financial wellness programs and their impact on employee engagement and organizational performance.
- Identify methods for assessing employee financial wellness needs through surveys, data analysis, and feedback mechanisms.
- Describe the core components of a comprehensive financial wellness program, including education, tools, and resources.
- Develop a high-level implementation roadmap tailored to organizational priorities and workforce demographics.
- Recognize common pitfalls and apply best practices to ensure program effectiveness and sustainability.
SPEAKER BIO
Karen Wood is the Chief Experience Officer at Service 1st Federal Credit Union, a $766 million credit union headquartered in Danville, Pennsylvania. Karen provides leadership, management and direction to its twelve branch offices including the development and delivery of its retail strategy, member experience, sales strategy and operations.
Karen’s experience in the financial services industry spans 40 years. Prior to joining Service 1st in 2007, Karen served as a commercial lender with FNB Bank, vice president of branch administration and business development with Columbia County Farmers National Bank and vice president commercial branch manager with M&T Bank.
Karen is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She has earned her Credit Union Certified Financial Counseling Certification. Karen is a graduate of Pennsylvania Bankers Association (PBA) Central Atlantic Advanced School of Banking and PBA Commercial Lending Academy and received her certification in the Certified Financial Planning Professional Education Program from the College of Financial Planning.
Active in her community, Karen currently serves on Geisinger’s Patient & Family Advisory Council, and the Global Women’s Leadership Network PA Sister Society, a credit union leadership organization. She has served as Board Chair of the Columbia Montour Chamber of Commerce, board chairperson for the United Way of Columbia County, and Club President for the Bloomsburg Rotary Club. In 2000, the Bloomsburg Rotary Club awarded her with the Paul Harris Fellow, recognizing outstanding service to the organization. She has served as secretary for the Columbia Montour Home Health Services/VNA and as a board member for the Bloomsburg Area YMCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters Central Susquehanna Valley and Columbia Montour Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Karen is a native of Philadelphia and resides in Bloomsburg.
