DESCRIPTION/COURSE OVERVIEW

Advances in technology have made access to information easier than ever before. Businesses have been able to harness that information to make strategic decisions. People Analytics is how we use data to develop strategies to work with people effectively. In this session, you will be introduced to the People Analytic process. We will discuss examples of how HR professionals can employ People Analytics to inform strategic decisions. We will also be able to identify resources that can be tapped to facilitate the best use of your data.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Provide an overview of the People Analytics Concept
• Discuss how companies use People Analytics
• Introduce and explain the steps involved in conducting a People Analytics Project

SPEAKER BIO:

Vanessa Hill is the James and Elizabeth Freeman Chair in Management and a professor of Management and Organizations at the Freeman College of Management, Bucknell University. Vanessa earned her B.A. in Sociology, Anthropology, and Psychology from Swarthmore College; and her M.S.I.A. and Ph.D. from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining the faculty at UL Lafayette, Vanessa served on faculties at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC, and the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Lafayette, LA. She holds two professional certifications in Human Resource Management: The Senior Certified Professional (SHRM – SCP) by the Society for Human Resource Management and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute.

This session has been submitted for recertification credits with SHRM and HRCI. Chapter members in good standing with their dues and non-members that have paid the nominal fee will receive these credits if in attendance for a minimum of 50 minutes of the program.
